Le Boss taken ill 2001 - Gérard Houllier was admitted to Broadgreen Hospital with chest pains during our Anfield fixture with Leeds United. Thankfully he went on to make a full recovery. Goalscoring debutants 1946 - Forward Cyril Done scored on his official reds debut as we were held 1-1 by Charlton Athletic at home. He had also scored in the previous first-class reds game in which he had played - seven years before, just before the outbreak of war when the season was cancelled. Future reds boss Don Welsh netted for the visitors, having previously done so against us before the Second World War! 1907 - Harold Fitzpatrick scored on his reds debut to hand us a 1-0 home victory

Happy birthday Ronnie 1963 - Ronnie Rosenthal was born in Haifa. The Israeli forward made an instant impact on his arrival on loan in March 1990, with Kenny Dalglish saying, “Ronnie gave us the momentum. It was that which helped us to win the Championship.” He signed from Standard de Liège permanently that June for £1m and scored a total of 22 times in 97 reds games before joining Tottenham Hotspur for £250,000 after four years at Anfield. A legend gets off the mark 1981 - Ian Rush scored his first two reds League goals to help us to a 3-0 home win over Leeds United, along with a Trevor Cherry own goal. 1925 - We also faced Leeds, with Fred Baron netting in a 1-1 draw at Anfield.
