Carra’s 500 2008 - Jamie Carragher was applauded onto the pitch by a guard of honour before making his 500th appearance for the club, skippering the side to a 5-0 thumping of Luton Town in our FA Cup Third Round replay at Anfield. Sam’s bow 1900 - Forward Sam Raybould made his reds debut as a Hugh Morgan brace condemned West Bromwich Albion to a 2-0 defeat at Anfield, his final goals for the club. Raybould went on to net 130 times in 226 reds games, becoming the first player to bag a hundred League goals for the club. He signed from Bayer 04 Leverkusen for £9.75m in July 2014, netting fourteen times in 167 reds games before moving on to Juventus on a free transfer in June 2018. 1887 – Forward Jimmy Nicholl was born in Port Glasgow. Birth of a legend 1922 - Billy Liddell was born in Townhill, Dunfermline. He joined the reds in July 1938 while still only sixteen, signing as an amateur from Lochgelly Violet for £200 and turning professional nine months later. He left the club in 1961, having struck 228 times in 534 games. His only club honour was the League title in 1947, although he also played in the FA Cup Final three years later.
