IP Throttling

Perhaps an unusual question but has anyone tried to throttle the IP bandwidth at the user end? Looking to quieten the children late at nite from 20-22pm onwards, to curb netflix and general internet action, any ideas?

 

Short of IP blocking, any means of doing this easily?

 

Not a complete severance of service but something I could fob off on a 'poor internet connection' for example, rather a more 'ohh the service might be down' kind of thing, ideally to keep the peace around here! For example a staggering really s*** netflix steam?

Can you not restrict wifi access by the clock within the router for each device?

Yes you can, you just need a router that supports 'Quality of Service - QOS'.
You can then specify it by IP, MAC Address (actual physical device) etc. Depending on your router make/model you'll just need to enable it in the settings.

You want to block it by MAC address, not IP address. IP addresses can be manually changed. Most routers have the ability to schedule usage hours.
