Winter

According the my calendar, it's the first day of winter today. And if the last week of autumn is anything to go by, it's gonna be absolutely freezing this year.

A few thoughts;

I realised yesterday that my winter coat (by default) is not gonna keep me warm.

We get quite frequent power cuts round here during the winter.

What temperature do you set your heating to in the winter?

Mountain biking in the snow is the business.

On the whole, I hate the winter and wish that it would f*** right off.

See, there is lot's to think about, isn't there?

More winter thoughts, please

Winter is great if it properly cold. I hate mild, wet winters

you wanna try that over here - or worse where Nebraska Red is. Last winter was ok here. Three massive snowfalls but all about 3 weeks apart so no new snow on old. Generally quite mild - to the tune that there wasn't a single week where I couldn't manage a decent outdoor run, which I think meant I hit March much fitter than otherwise

More of that please and not your minus 8 days

winter's great if you live in the country on an estate of 5 acres or more, with a lake, a big house and a separate building that houses your pool/sauna/steam room/gym complex, and work from home, or not at all

also good if you're on a 3 month ski holiday

s*** in all other circumstances, especially in the city

A proper winter is a simple pleasure.

exactly

on your estate in the country rather than the slush of the city, getting in and out of buildings with your coat on, and you don't need dancing girls or drugs in the country

good news though: you can assemble such an estate for about 500k euros in France

or you can buy a one bed flat in London

The heating is set to 21C during the winter and the aircon to 21C during the summer. Although my missus seems to mess with the thermostats and puts the heating on 28C ("to warm it up quickly") and the aircon to 14C ("to cool it quickly"). I've tried to tell her that the thermostat will sort it all for her but she won't listen.

Can't swing that myself but on some sort of timeshare thing I'm in.

I know but it won’t be a holiday home

This will be like, my main home

You can pitch up if you like though

Was thinking I could let people come over on camping hols

It’s FREE and includes food and wine and discos at night plus five a side footy etc

But you need to do a few hours work each day to help renovate the gaff

Say 3 hours n the morning, which could also cure hangovers

Would that catch on?

Works best with couples and young families rather than ‘a load of lads’

Back to winter, does anyone fancy living in a synthetic climate like in Logan’s Run where the temperature is the same ambient 21 every day?

I think I’d like it
