There are loads of flats with this cladding still on. Laughably the government advice is for landlords to pay the costs of removal without charging on to tenants "where possible"

Big civil works project like that "about to start" should be nice and easy to prove. Not that it makes much difference, just be one of many still lethal.

There's 100's of tower blocks that are "in the process of converting" - seems to take a long while doesn't it? 

I'm guessing in many cases expecting leaseholders to pay for it - rather than the billionaire developers who chose the cheap (and deadly) stuff to save a few bob or the council/govt that turned a blind eye to it - and the leaseholders (understandably) wondering why they should* pay 10's of thousands of pounds for it, is partly to blame for some of the delays. 

Meanwhile people are at risk of dying - you'd think the govt might do something about this to speed things along but they're not that interested. 

*and in most cases can't actually afford to even if they 'wanted' to.

Yep, friend of mine living in a fairly new block with this type of cladding has had letters from the owners with a range of options, one of which is a 500% increase in rent.

The new Channel 4 documentary "Grenfell: The Untold Story" - heartbreaking. 

How those who lost friends and loved ones are able to cope with not only their loss but the knowledge that it was so obviously avoidable. 

It's all there - contempt and disregard for poor people, greed and overlooking safety in search of more profit, lies and covering up. 

The govt, the council, the TMO, the contractors, the manufacturers - all complicit.

Now not a sponsor - can't see Lewis being very happy with it. Don't recall seeing the logo on the car last weekend

Kingspan obviously drafted that statement

They know their products were unsafe and they directly lead to innocent people dying...buuut...they do have some leading edge environmentally sustainable solutions. Just keep them away from a naked flame.

Seems a pretty strong argument that the govt policies around "cutting red tape" essentially meant cutting costs for wealthy housing developers, seemingly to the detriment of the safety of residents, doesn't it?
