This is actually the cleverest thing England have done for a long time, essentially copying what John Toshack started with Wales and other managers continued with resulting in last year's Euros. The fact that England have more talented players should bode well for them.

Good player though. Not to say Solanke won't become one, but there were signs very early on from Walcott. There was also an argument that he should have been played, at least as a sub, instead of taking him all the way there to sit on the bench.

 

He should never have gone. Truly daft call by Sven.

 

To then not play him at all was doubly-daft

Agree. Keeping a generation together is a good idea.

I heard Solanke eligible for Nigeria? The theory goes once he's played at senior level that's it, he's English, that's why he played to put a stamp on his head..

 

He'd have to play a competitive game to be ineligible for another country, he has played loads for England underage teams though, I can't see him switching at this stage unless he disappears out of the picture for England from here.
