Terry will escape FA punishment. If he's punished in the courts the FA will say he's already been punished. And if the court finds him not guilty the FA will not pursue this any further. He's going to get away with it, he always has done. England's brave lion of a captain. c***.

No worries there.

Incredible though, he'll be able to go through all this post season when the spotlight is away from football for a couple of months.

I know it's only a technical plea hearing this morning but surprised how low key his hearing has been kept in the media.

Not surprised actually, come to think of it.

If he's found guilty the FA will charge him.

Very handy trial date, no doubt he will announce that the Euros will be the final time he will appear for England as he wants to concentrate on club football for the last few years of his career.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it was someone in the FA who reported him to theolice in the first place. A complete whitewash for one of England's finest yet again. Disgraceful.*

* innocent until proven guilty notwithstanding of course, don't want to be hypocritical..... :P

It had crossed my mind, but we're talking proper high level corruption there. That said, we're naive to think the game isn't run by shady faceless characters these days.

Not on though is it?

Tbh, I'd expect a statement from Cameron about this. Can't let him go as captain without the chance to clear his name. Just can't. This is the national sport, in the year we are hosting the Olympics. We just can't be doing it. Not the feckin captain. We must look really last.

nah, be the opposite of that. we can't possibly persecute an innocent-until-proven guilty man who has a track record of leadership and patriotism in this of all years. the euros and the olympics are an opportunity to showcase all that is great about england. people must focus on the bigger picture and allow the england captain to concentrate on leading the nation before he has to face these scurrilous and unfounded accusations etc

just as a matter of interest, outside of knuckle dragging Chelsea fans, members of the FA and the grubbier end of Fleet Street, is there anyone in the UK who doesn't regard him as a complete c***?

Wayne Bridge's missus?

So it's ok for Redknapp to be prosecuted mid season, ok for Gerrard to be in court in season, but this mag is persuaded it's all better done when Chelsea and England are not playing. Maybe such are standard and maybe having to call so many witnesses during the season might cause undue disruption to the competition, but the CL final is on the 19th May, after which the Euros start on the 8th of June. That England have warm up games on the 26th and 2nd has probably swung this, but it looks awful

How can someone be expected to captain a country which is bringing criminal charges against him?

Ludicrous.

Because it is innocent until proven guilty.

That's the line they will go with.

It seems the Judge was keen on a early trial date. He was, however, persuaded that this was not possible due to witnesses having footballing commitments. Picture drawn was of a complex matter. I would be surprised if the actual trial lasts a week with only a handful of witnesses.

Ludicrous.

because of the british sense of fair play and in the spirit of great institutions that the empire was built on like innocent until proven guilty.

all of this is just jockeying for position ahead of the almost inevitable not guilty verdict.

Which is why i think the FA are in a right pickle here. They cant risk him lifting a trophy with this going on (wont happen like but its possible)
