'The economy is safe with the Tories'

There's no ground-breaking thought in this article (from today's Guardian) but it sums up well my frustration with Labour's position (and that of the left in general) in terms of their (lack of) response not just to the current Greece & Euro crisis but everything since the American sub-prime lending fecked up the world's economy. The left should be wiping the floor with tories just now and positioning themselves behind some properly radical policies and they just look bankrupt of thought and ideas, dealing with trifling issues orund the edges insted of hitting at bigger targets.

There have been characters in such positions saying this for the last three years. There seems to be a shed load of money effectively bet on the Euro collapsing or dropping like a stone. Political types fumble about talking about fundamentals and markets not behaving according to them, as if that's even a valid argument let alone realistic view of the s*** they have got into by spending too much money and borrowing it from people and a market place where many have hedged on them not paying it back.

Osborne really doesn't look like he understands what he's talking about.

Osbourne doesn't understand the economy and it isnt a concern for him. His only concern is to use the economy as a beacon of fear in order to push through punitive, ill thought out cuts as part of a socio-economic agenda to undermine huge swathes of public infrastructure that stand in the way of the Tories annihilation of the public sector.

It is all driven by a loathsome political ideology that doesn't care for the people it is supposed to represent, assist and help and instead panders to huge corporations and the mega rich.

I never have and probably never will understand the idea behind giving such an important job as Chancellor to people with little to no financial education/background. Nothing gets said about it either.

What about other offices of state, only Teachers in charge of education, Doctors for the NHS, policemen for Home sec.

That's a fair point. However, a Health Minister who has been blessed from birth with immunity from all illness and disease, or a Minister for Education who was born with more innate knowledge than any reasonable person would expect to learn, or Batman's mum, you could say they might not be as well equipped as others to understand the effect that their brief has on their fellow ordinary citizens. And yet, so it is we see Osborne as our Chancellor of the Exchequer, a man who wouldn't know a bill if it bit him on the bo11ocks.

Be fair. He has spent an awful lot of time and effort ensuring he doesn't have to pay much tax.
