I'm full of sympathy and all and if it happened to one of mine I'd be a wreck. But what the feck were they thinking leaving kids that age unattended? If it was some supermarket check out woman and her dustbinman husband, rather than a pair of GPs, the Mail and Express would be wanting the pair of em strung up for child neglect.

Exactly. The Sunday Times reported that they were ?dining? 100 yards away, I could just imagine what they would have been reported as doing had it been someone like you mention.

I quite agree.

Babysitting services are available in places like that. I think the holiday company they arranged things through specialises in that kind of kid-looking after service family holiday, don't they? Struggling to think of how any reason for leaving 3 kids under 4 years old unattended like that makes sense.

There was a child minding service on site. The parents chose not to use it apparently.

The thing that struck me was that they were on holiday with two other couples with children. Couldn't they have taken it in turns to childmind themselves?

yeah but the sunday times also pointed out that they didnt use the creche(which was free) or the childminding service (at £8 point an hour) but instead decided just kept an eye on them from afar....therefore hinting that theyre partially to blame for it.... it then just happened to point out both are "Roman Catholics".

hmmmmm.

Radio said yesterday that the police may charge the couple as it's illegal to leave small children alone in Portugal..... :hmm:

Why the :hmm: ?

Don't you think people should be subject to the laws of the country in which they reside?

Blimey as if they haven't been going through enough. My mrs said today that on internet or somewhere they have been saying that it may have been known English Peadophiles who have set up home and new lives in Portugal.

thought they were supposed to be sat about 30yards away with a view of the accomodation front door?

bit poor taste this.

I completely agree. Get a grip, ffs. The parents of this kid have no control over what the press write.

It could happen to anyone.

I'm watching the news when I can, can only imagine their utter grief and fear for what's happening the poor little lass right now. Scared out of her bloody wits.

It was done in the first post never mind a few. FFS Charlie, things like this are so unimaginable you can't even begin to publicly chastise the parents, certainly not until the child is found (please God)that would be too cruel for words, words that don't need to be said even though everybody is thinking the same thing. They are already going through a living hell of guilt. Their background has feck all to do with it, they were dining in the next block and popping back every half hour. Obviously somebody was watching them and took their opportunity. It's not as if they were out on the piss in town is it. I heartily agree they shouldn't have left the kids at all, hand on my heart we have never done it and we don't even go too far now and my two lads are both as big as me.

Great post.

I'm a dad myself and whilst I'm gutted for them for their loss, the long and short of it is that they should be f*cking hauled over the coals for this. What sort of idiots leave their kids like that? Fantastic point about the stereotypes though, if it had been a couple who looked like they were the "wacky" ones from Wife Swap, there'd be a lynching being arranged.

Hope the kid's found safe and well though.

Some of you on here need to have a word with yourselves. The poor, desperate parents need all the sympathy and support they can get and these cheap jibes are well out of order. So the hotel had a babysitting service? So what? We used these services when our kids were younger and you know what? the babysitter calls in on the children EVERY HALF HOUR! That's probably why they felt the service was unnecessary when that's the self-same thing they were doing themselves. I defy anyone with children to say they have never done what these tragic parents did.

I can categorically state that I never did anything remotely like that with my stepson. Never once left him in a hotel room or appartment on his own.

Sympathies yes, awful situation yes, but if they had not left a 3 three year old and her younger twins on there own this would not have happened

Its the age of them that I cannot comprehend to be honest
