Jamie Carragher Testimonial (02/09/2010) - Down Memory Lane
Thursday, 2nd September 2010
YNWA takes a look back at our previous testimonial encounters with Everton as Anfield prepares for the game in honour of Jamie Carragher on Saturday. Carra will be looking to make history by leading the reds to victory for the first time in five such matches.

Eighties meetings
Steve Heighway's testimonial took place at Anfield in May 1981. A ‘Liverpool Past And Present' side drew 2-2 with a similar Everton team at Anfield. We lost 3-2 at Goodison Park in August 1985. Phil Neal, whose testimonial it was, and Craig Johnston were on target for the reds.

First testimonial
We took part in the first such match in March 1973, for the Blues' legendary centre-half Brian Labone. John Toshack netted as Everton won 2-1 at Goodison Park.

Brucie bonus
The most recent testimonial derby was in October 1992, when the match ended 2-2 at Anfield, with David Burrows and Ronnie Rosenthal on target and Bruce missing a penalty!
