YNWA looks back at our only meeting with Unirea Urziceni last week and our previous visits to Romania as we prepare for the second leg of our Europa League round of 32 tie on Thursday.

Last week
David N'Gog bagged the only goal of the game late on as we secured a 1-0 victory in the first leg at Anfield.

He scored one goal
Djimi Traoré scored his only ever reds goal in a Romanian mud-bath as we drew 1-1 with Steaua Bucureşti in a UEFA Cup Second Round match. We went on to win the Anfield return 1-0.

Also off the mark
In September 2000, Bernard Diomède made his first reds appearance in our first match of that season's triumphant UEFA Cup campaign, as Nick Barmby grabbed his first reds strike, the only goal of the game at Rapid Bucureşti. Christian Ziege made his first start for the club.

We moved into the Third Round of the Fairs Cup in November 1970 by holding Dinamo Bucureşti to a draw on their own patch to progress 4-1 on aggregate, with our goal coming from substitute Phil Boersma, the first of his thirty reds goals.

Heading to Rome
An Ian Rush brace in April 1984 booked our place in a fourth European Cup Final, as we won 2-1 at Dinamo Bucureşti, to go through 3-1 on aggregate. Rush reached forty goals for the season and a hundred reds goals in this his 168th game, in a match played in a fiery atmosphere after Graeme Souness had broken Lica Movilă's jaw in the first leg at Anfield.

First visit
Willie Stevenson put through his own net to start the scoring as we lost 3-1 in October 1966 to Petrolul Ploieşti in the second leg of our European Cup First Round tie. Roger Hunt grabbed our goal, with home defender Gheorghe Florea sent off late on in a bruising encounter. The tie ended level at 3-3 on aggregate and, as this was before the away goals rule, a third game was needed, which we won in Brussels a week later.
