Stevie G into the LFC League Top 20
Thursday, 11th February 2010
Reds skipper Steven Gerrard entered the club's all-time Top 20 for number of League games played after appearing at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening. This was his 354th League game for Liverpool, although this is 69 behind Jamie Carragher, our most experienced current player, who ranks number eleven in the League.

The 29-year old Whiston-born lad signed on as a pro in 1997, and is currently contracted with the club until 2013. He has so far bagged an impressive 76 goals in his 354 League appearances. Although he is still just over forty strikes away from breaking into our Top 10 League scorers list, he currently ranks a impressive number eleven in all competitions.

Gerrard's 354th game drew him level with Alan A'Court. The left-winger from Rainhill signed for free from Prescot Cables in September 1952 and scored 63 times in 381 reds games, including 61 League strikes. He helped us to the Second Division title in 1962, as well as representing England at the 1958 World Cup in his time at Anfield. He left to join Tranmere Rovers in October 1964.

Next in his sights in this list is the king himself, with Gerrard set to equal Kenny Dalglish's number of League outings for the club at Eastlands in our next fixture. It will take a further 76 games before Stevie can break into the club's all-time Top 10 League appearance holders, and he would then still be more than 200 games behind Ian Callaghan, who is likely to forever remain the Liverpool player who tops the appearance charts.
