YNWA takes a look back at our previous trips to Thailand as we prepare to face the national side at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok on Wednesday.
Overall record
We have faced the Thai team three times before, with all of these games coming at the same stadium where we are due to come face to face for the fourth time, and all of them ending in victories with the reds netting three times in each encounter.
Most recently
Patrice Luzi and Zak Whitbread both made their senior reds debuts as we won 3-1 in July 2003. Emile Heskey added to a Vladimír Šmicer brace in a game billed as a GSM Advance Nokia Exclusive Match.
First meeting
We won 3-0 in June 1983 with goals from Alan Kennedy, Sammy Lee and Graeme Souness. It was to be eighteen years before we returned to the country to play again.
A fizzy win
We won 3-1 in July 2001 to claim the Coca-Cola Super Cup. Michael Owen struck twice, with Nick Barmby netting the other.
