Pieter Vink of Holland will referee our Champions League quarter-final tie against Arsenal in London.
The 41-year old from Noordwijkerhout in the south of the country is Holland's referee in the forth coming EURO2008 tournament. His two assistants for the tournament will also be on duty with him at The Emirates Stadium.
Vink gave up his job as a police officer to continue his career as a referee that started way back in 1987. It only took him 9 years before he was refereeing in the top flight. It was another 8 years before he was listed as a FIFA and UEFA official and it was only last year he was promoted to the Elite list of UEFA Elite list.
Pieter was in charge of the very first game at the new Wembley Stadium as England and Italy U21's drew 3-3 in a friendly.
He is pretty inexperienced in Champions League football with only 5 games under his belt since his debut in November 2006 as Lyon beat Dinamo Kiev 1-0. Needless to say he has not refereed Arsenal or ourselves previously.
His assistants for the game are Adriaan Inia and Hans Ten Hoove with Bas Nijhuis as fourth official.
